The doctors are Chris Reilly and Firoz Miyanji. Dr. Miyanji joined the BC Children's ortho team in 2007. Dr. Reilly is head of the department. For the past several expansions and implants, they have both been in surgery with our boys. We are very impressed with their work and their responsiveness for those problems like migration. Dr. Reilly was actually the ortho on call when Malcolm was born (2000), and did Malcolm's first ortho assessment.

Dr. Chris Reilly is the Head of the Department of Pediatric Orthopaedics. He completed his fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedics at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas before joining the orthopedic group at Children's. His interests lie primarily in spinal deformities and athletic injuries. Dr. Reilly is the orthopedic consultant to the Neuromuscular Clinic. His current areas of research include spinal deformities and the functional and surgical outcomes surrounding ligament reconstruction in the knee.

Dr Miyanji completed his medical school training at the University of Ottawa. He joined the UBC Orthopaedic Residency Program in 1999 and graduated in 2004. He then completed a one year spine fellowship at Toronto Western Hospital and a one year pediatric orthopaedic fellowship at San Diego Children’s Hospital. Dr Miyanji joins the orthopaedic group in providing emergency and elective orthopaedic care at Children’s Hospital. He and Dr Reilly will provide a combined spinal clinic and operative spinal care service. Dr. Miyanji's areas of research interest include spine and outcomes research.

The doctors and nurses at BCCH collaborate to keep our boys well and get us home as soon as safely possible. They are respectful and patient. We are so lucky to live nearby and have these wondeful people to help our family.
