Notes:
From website:
The Congenital Spine and Chest Wall Deformity Program at the Children's Orthopedic Center at Children's Hospital Los Angeles is one of few sites in the country – and the only pediatric facility in California to offer a new treatment using surgically implanted titanium ribs to expand the chest over time and allow the chest and lungs to grow, while straightening the spine.

Notes: Under the guidance of Dr. Campbell of Christus Santa Rosa, Children's Hospital Boston was the third site to begin investigating the feasibility of the VEPTR device. John B. Emans, MD, who is also a noted professor at Harvard Medical School, leads the investigation here.

U.S.News and World Report has been ranked Children's Hospital Boston as one of the top two pediatric hospital in the nation for over a decade. Children's is the primary pediatric teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School and located in downtown Boson. They offers expert care in orthopaedics, and in many other areas of traditional and research medicine. The hospital is very family-oriented and modern, with public transportation, campus stores, and hotels all located within walking distance. For patients that are recovering, this would be a great opportunity to experience the culture of one of America's oldest cities!

Notes:
Christus Santa Rosa Children's Hospital is the primary location in the FDA's multi-center feasibility study. It was here in 1989 that Dr. Campbell, assisted by Dr. Smith et al., invented and implemented the first VEPTR device, code named `The Titanium Rib Project'. Since then, the procedure has evolved and matured, and Santa Rosa remains at the forefront. Patients from around the world travel here to meet Dr. Campbell and his team! If you have a unique or special orthopedic case, this likely will be your best choice of locations! No center has more experience by a large margin.

The hospital is located in downtown San Antonio, with a park and shopping center right well within walking distance. Hotels and accommodations are very affordable, and there is a Ronald McDonald house for parents that will be there for extended visits. There is an affordable in-hospital cafeteria and special rates have been negotiated with neighboring hotels. One person has said that it is both a great hospital and the perfect example of Texas hospitality.
